Sailing Safety

Searsport Charters LLC would like you to have a safe and memorable voyage that will provide memories for a lifetime. Safety of all of our guests is paramount at all times. The Captain will provide you all with personal flotation devices. Children 15 and under are required to wear them on the boat at all times.

There will be a safety review prior to setting sail, together with a tour of "Fedele" in order to familiarize you with basic equipment and safety procedures. You should aslk any questions you have at this time.

For safety reasons, decisions made by the Captain are final.

Navigation

Navigation is undertaken by both electronics and traditional methods. There is a computer on board that will display where you are in respect to the ship's position upon the chart for that region, together with information obtained from the ship's other electronic instruments.The Captain will be more than happy to explain this equipment to you if you are interested.

Sunscreen The sea reflects sun-light and can easily cause sunburn on exposed skin while sailing.
Change of warm clothes Temperatures rapidly change during a sea cruise. It may be exceptionally warm when we leave, but significantly cooler on the water. A warm sweater , jacket and long pants can make your trip that much more enjoyable.
BYOB

"Fedele" is a dry ship. Soda, water, ice tea/coffee will be readily available. Beer and wine must be carried on board by the customer.

Please remember the Captain and any crew are not permitted alcohol. Do not be offended if they refuse your kind offer as they are licensed Mariners and as such they can be subjected to random tests by the appropriate authority's for alcohol and drugs.

Food

Due to the many possible food requirements and allergies, Searsport Charters does not provide food for Short Hops and One Day on the Bay charters.

Breakfasts will be provided for overnight charters, the details of which will be determined in our charter confirmation. Lunch and dinner arrangements will also be determined during conformation discussions.

(Note: food and on board accommodations are provided for students taking the 2,3,& 5 day lessons.)

Medication

Motion sickness remedies and prescribed medication are the only permitted medications. There are NO exceptions.

Please advise the Captain of any medical conditions you feel he should be made aware of regarding you or any of your guests.
